Hi!
Welcome to the CBSA Readers’ Choice Award. We are so glad that you and your patrons or students are interesting in participating in voting this semester.
Partners in Literacy is exceedingly proud of our 22 teen judges and their mentors who have been reading and discussing books published in 2020 and 2021 . Out of all the books that they have considered and read, they have chosen these five. These books all have wide appeal. The characters, authors and genres are diverse. Each book is well written, unique and memorable. So often our teen judges have exclaimed, “I have never read a book that did that before!!”
Below is our nominations poster. This year we have 5 nominations because we had 5 nominating book teams. Next year, we hope to have 8 book teams. If we do, we will have 8 nominations.
If you scan the QR code on the poster, you will be able to see, hear or read the book talks submitted for each of these books, by the book team that nominated it.
In order to have your patrons or students participate in voting, please:
1. Print this poster. Put it up somewhere in your classroom, library or store. Near your desk would be a good place so that you can answer questions.
2. Print these ballots and cut them out. Put them near the poster. You will also need a box or cannister for the students to to drop them in after they have voted.
Note about who can vote and who can not: In the past years, the rule was that students could vote only if they had read three of the nominated books. Since we can not verify what students have read and what they have not from afar, we have no specific number of books that teens must read to be eligible to vote. You are invited to add any requirements that you would like to add to serve your or your students’ needs.
3. On or before Friday April 1, count the number of votes that you have for each book. Fill out the google form below, and submit. (We know this is a short reading window for your students. We have high hopes of having our book nominees out in early January next year.)
Optional: Send an email telling us that your class or school is participating. We will send you a reminder to count your ballots and submit your google form. Thanks!
